On the 7th of November, in the framework of the Erasmus+ Project “Mobilising university-community resources through SL(M) for the inclusion of migrants/refugees”, a meeting was held at the Università degli Studi di Verona (Italy) with the participation of all partners.

It was a follow-up and dissemination meeting on the work done so far and addressed the impact of SL on social institutions and refugees. The MOOC and the Guide of Good Practices in the University for the Inclusion of Migrants and Refugees in Europe: Service-Learning as an Educational Resource were also presented.

GI Esculca is organising the XVI National Seminar on Educational Attention to Immigrant Students, which in this edition will focus on approaching this reality through the use of active methodologies and the educational management of cultural diversity.
The seminar will be held on 25 and 26 October 2024 at the Faculty of Education Sciences (South Campus, USC).
It has also been approved by the Consellería de Cultura, Educación, Formación Profesional e Universidades as a permanent teacher training activity (12 hours).

Several researchers and members of the Erasmus+ Project presented posters at the IV International Symposium on Service-Learning at the University held on 18 October 2024 at the Faculty of Education Sciences (Campus Vida – USC).

Miguel A. Santos Rego, Professor at the University of Santiago and member of the Erasmus+ Project, presented the communication “University and community in the inclusion of migrants/refugees. Through Service-Learning: the SL(M) Project” at the European Conference on Educational Research held in Nicosia from 27 to 30 August.

The Esculca Research Group is organising the “IV International Symposium on Service-Learning at the University“, under the subtitle “Education and Community Development”, as part of the project “The Impact of the University on the Community through Service-Learning Projects.

This event will take place in Santiago de Compostela on 18 October 2024 and you can register in the link below until 14 October 2024.

SL(M) projects for the academic year 2023-2024

During the academic year 2023-24, the University-Civil Society Alliance through Service-Learning has achieved that teachers, students and organisations from Galicia (Spain), Galway (Ireland) and Verona (Italy) have participated in different projects, but with a common goal of promoting the inclusion process of migrants/refugees.

On Saturday, June 15th, Glocal Factory will present the SL(M) Project at the cultural event ‘Confini Comuni: Marcherries’ in Verona.
It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the tasks we have been developing in our project so far. They will also present the service-learning methodology as a resource to promote the inclusion process of migrants/refugees.

We are finalising the details of the Good Practice Guide. In the next few weeks, the Good Practice Guide will be published, containing all the educational experiences developed during this academic year with the migrant/refugee population. It will be an open resource, published in English, Spanish and Italian.
