On the occasion of International Migrants Day, observed on December 18, the United Nations reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights of migrants. It highlights the value of migration as a pathway to development and social cohesion, as well as the need to ensure the dignity and inclusion of all migrants.

The University Press publishes (SPIC) has recently published the conference proceedings of the “International Conference on Migrations and Refuge in Europe. Learning and Serving from the University”, held on July 10 and 11, 2025, as the final activity of the Erasmus+ Project Mobilising university-community resources through SL(M) for the inclusion of migrants/refugees.

The Basic Training Course on Migration/Refuge and Service Learning in University – MOOC SL (M) has been published. The aim of the MOOC is to train university professors in the use of this methodology in order to address the needs of migrants and refugees with their students and contribute to their inclusion. However, it is also a course that students, social organization technicians, and administrative staff can take to gain training in this reality and learn the methodology.

The MOOC is available from 8 September 2025 to 12 July 2026 for online self-paced study through the EUniWell Courses and Training Catalogue.

The aim of this volunteer group is to create sustainable, long-term solutions for refugees by enabling access to education, empowering students to seize opportunities, build self-reliance, and lead independent lives. So, the commitment is supporting education pathways and building a more inclusive environment for refugees and newcomers in Ireland.
