The SL(M) Project “Legal and social integration help desk” has been launched at the Università degli studi di Verona. The main objective of this project is to introduce students to the reality of migrants in need of legal assistance and to carry out socio-legal accompaniment.

The University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Galway and the Università degli Studi di Verona are developing fourteen Service-Learning projects in all fields of knowledge with organisations working with migrants and refugees.

On the 30th of April, the third edition of the course on Service-Learning (Migrants) [SL(M)] for university professors will take place at the Università degli studi di Verona.

This course is linked to the Erasmus+ Project “Mobilising university-community resources through SL(M) for the inclusion of migrants/refugees”.

As part of the Erasmus+ Project “Mobilising university-community resources through SL(M) for the inclusion of migrants/refugees” [2022-1-ES01-KA220-HED-000087650], GI Esculca is organising a course for university students on Service-Learning in the field of migration and refugee issues. This training is free of charge and is recognised for 6 hours by the University Participation and Inclusion Service (UPIS) of the USC.

The course will be held at the Faculty of Education in its building on the SUR campus.

Programme:

Session 1: Analysis of the social needs of migrants/refugees (ACCEM) = 4 hours.

21 February – 16:30 h. – 20:30 h.

Session 2: Introduction to Service-Learning methodology (Javier Agrafojo and Alexandre Sotelino) = 2 hours

On 2nd and 3rd November, at the University of Galway was held  a focus group to evaluate the development and satisfaction of participants in the Basic training course in SL(m) for undergraduate students. The aim of this focus group was to identify the perceptions, feelings and ways of thinking of the participants in the SL(M) training course.

 

 

On 8 November, the second face-to-face meeting of the project took place with the participation of all partners. We evaluated the actions that have been developed so far, we agreed on improvements and we planned the tasks for the next months.

On 7th and 8th of November saw the Partnership Day organised by the University of Galway team. The team from USC, University of Verona, ACCEM and Glocal Factory met in Galway to present and evaluate all the SL projects that will be implemented in the next months. We counted with the participation of two external professors to the project, Dr. Concepción Naval (University of Navarra) and Dr. Maria Gallo (Trinity College), responsible for evaluating each of the nine SL projects presented.

 

On 29th September a focus group was held at the Università degli studi di Verona with the participation of 5 students from bachelor student, Learning Sciences; master student, Emergency Governance; bachelor student, Humanities; master student, Learning Sciences; bachelor student, Mathematics.
